Santa Barbara Unified Microgrids 'A Resilience Model Others Should Copy'

Solar Builder Magazine digs into Santa Barbara Unified’s procurement of solar PV microgrid systems to keep the power on through earthquakes, fires and outages. In partnership with Sage Energy Consulting and the Clean Coalition, SBUSD has taken a big step toward energy resilience ‘in one of the most grid-vulnerable regions in California.’

The District’s Solar Microgrids have been strategically spread throughout the Goleta Load Pocket to best serve the entire community during grid outages, including those resulting from high-impact disasters. We will be positioned to support everything from emergency sheltering with food service to internet access and electronics charging stations.”
